Download mIRC and install (step by step instructions will be given as you install). Downloads are available at http://www.mirc.com/.


Setting it up:
After installing mirc and starting it up - click to close the registration window that pops up. It is a 30 day trial share ware programme. It is down to the conscience of the individual whether to make a one off payment at the end of the trial - the programme will continue to run whether registered or not.

From the Mirc options window fill in the "full name" box. Tip: do not use your real name because people will be able to see it. Instead either type in None or make up a name. Same with the email address - just put in none, it will protect you from spammers.

Fill in your nick and an alternative nick. You cannot register a nick on Undernet so if your nick is taken it will automatically use the alternative. If the alternative nick is also taken it will ask you to choose another once you have connected to Undernet. To do this just type /nick followed by your new nick until you find something not in use.

Under the category panel (to the left) click on Identd
Make sure the enable Identd server is checked (ticked) and put in a user ID (anything you want)

Still under the category panel click on servers. From the drag down list for Irc Network select Undernet.
Choose a server from the IRC server list - any will do but the one nearest to you is recommended.

IMPORTANT: CLICK OK OR YOU WILL LOSE YOUR SETTINGS!!!!

You will now see your status window. To connect, click on the icon at the top bar which looks like lightning (it is the first icon there)

Once your status window says you are connected just type /join #ghosts

That is it!

PS after you have done all the above you will not have to fill in all your details the next time you use it (provided you remembered to click OK before). When you start up Mirc and close the registration panel just click "connect to server" and you will join Undernet. You can then join the channel by typing /join #ghosts
